a note from the founder
Hello beauties,
My name is Bailey, founder of Blue Bootied Beauty and formerly referred to as: Bossy Boots. Bossy Boots was a nickname my mother gave me around the age of 4, due to my "bossy" nature. I had a tendency to do things my own way and felt those around me would benefit from doing it my way too. Anyone who didn't found themselves being corrected by a very vocal child. This even applied to our family's dog, Sadie. I didn't fear speaking my mind to anyone, or any pet. So, as you can imagine, this was a bit daunting to the "grownups" I encountered. For example, my first-grade teacher who thought it was her job to decide which lessons she'd teach and in what order. Bossy Boots had her own thoughts about that, and voiced them often. My tendencies to self advocate and problem solve carried over to all parts of my life. Whether it was deciding which games my brothers and I were going to play and the rules that applied or telling my mother I wanted to walk myself to school and intentionally missing the bus to do so. These are just a few small examples of how I earned the title of "Bossy Boots."
A couple decades later, in my mid twenties, my mother suddenly took it upon herself to apologize for the since retired nickname. While I never thought much of it as a child and, frankly, had even forgotten about it, it weighed on her all those years. She explained that what could have been an opportunity to nurture leadership skills, was instead reduced to a label with negative connotation. With her apology and new perspective, I decided to give Bossy Boots the love and guidance she was missing all those years ago. So with that nickname and some added inspiration of the two first ingredients (Egyptian blue lotus & blue tansy) I used to create a marketable product, the name Blue Bootied Beauty was born.
My only hope is that our products bring you and your skin as much care and rejuvenation as it has mine and our other users. Every person that crosses our path matters to us! I want you to feel inspired and supported and know you're capable of taking any negativity in life and you can transmute it into something beautiful. You deserve the best life has to offer and if life won't give you the best, create it for yourself! This company is proof that it's possible. BBB was originally founded when I was living paycheck to paycheck in an RV with no running water, broken heat and spotty electricity. But I didn't want to sacrifice quality skincare and couldn't afford to buy it. So I began formulating my own products and rituals using dried flowers and herbs, fruit, oils and baking soda until it grew to what it is today. I hope my all natural products can add beauty, health and wellness to your lives as it has my own.
Please read along to find out what makes Blue Bootied Beauty so special and beneficial to our users. I just felt it was important to first share BBB's origin story with you from me personally. Because I wanted you to know this isn't just another business looking to make a buck. This is personal!
xoxo,
Bailey

Why Blue Bootied Beauty?
The short answer?
Our products are made in small batches, they offer BIG benefits and they're formulated with BS-free ingredients that boost not only beauty but wellbeing too!
For those interested in a more detailed explanation, let’s breakdown what sets BBB apart...
Our Ingredients & Process:
1. We use sustainable and eco-friendly ingredients. We check to ensure whoever is manufacturing the ingredients we purchase is sourcing them safely and that they are additive free. Our focus is clean, chemical free ingredients that come from planet earth.
2. A skincare routine should be more than just routine. Our products allow you to create a beauty ritual instead, capable of healing the body in more ways than one. We want to provide a luxurious experience through nutrient rich botanicals, so that your healing and beautifying from the inside out. We do this through aromatherapy or even the spiritual benefits some of our plant ingredients provide. Mother nature has been trusted to heal the body, mind and soul long before Sephora and Ulta existed. But sadly, the age-old beauty rituals that kept our ancestors healthy, beautiful and youthful have been tossed aside by the modern beauty industry. Instant gratification took priority over time test beauty rituals.
3. While many of our products are more than capable of providing instant gratification in the appearance of skin, our creation process itself, does not. We produce all of our products in small batches. Though every batch may not look or exactly the same, we know the benefits and purity of the ingredients is. We infuse our serums and oils in glass so we don't have to worry about the chemicals from plastic leaking in during the process. Our products are infused without heat or sunlight to avoid spoiling any ingredients and to ensure the maximum benefits of each ingredient used. While this process can take months at a time depending on the product, we feel its necessary to ensure the best quality and safety for our user's skin.
4. We take pride in the ingredients we use. Countless hours of research and lots of trial and error have gone into choosing our ingredients and where they come from. It hasn't been as simple as just choosing effective plants and minerals. We study the interactions of each ingredient, how they smell together, how they are most beneficial to one another and if their healing properties remain in tact when mixed together. We know which ones are effective on their own, but it can be tricky finding a balanced formula that will look, feel and smell right when used together. Even with the most simple ingredients.
5. It doesn't take long ingredient lists filled with words you've never heard of or even struggle to pronounce to create effective skincare. Many of those ingredients come at a cost much higher than what you paid for. Often times they fix one issue only to create a whole new one. How many times have you tried a product for acne just to end up with dry irritated skin? Or used a new moisturizer that hydrated your skin perfectly but caused acne breakouts? We only use oils and other bases that fall at a 0 on the comedogenic scale. For those who don't know, the comedogenic scale is a rating system that tells you how likely an ingredient is to clog pores and potentially cause breakouts. 0 = Will not clog pores and 5 = Highly likely to clog pores. While dry skin can benefit from a higher-rated base, we use ingredients that are a 0 but can nourish all skin types without leaving an oily residue on the skin.
Our Values & Pricing:
How often have you heard the phrase "beauty is pain?" In today's society, due to inflation, that phrase seems to have extended to our wallets as well. Companies are charging hundreds of dollars for the smallest amount of product that it cost them next to nothing to manufacture. Many people even skip the skincare routine all together for a costly but quick fix of fillers or plastic surgery which not only comes at a high cost financially but comes at the cost of health as well. The chemicals, complication and infection risk factors associated with such procedures are a pretty big gamble to take. All too often, those who start too early on resemble that of a Bratz doll facing regret. Many seem unaware that their age still remains obvious, not due to wrinkles, but rather plasticky cheeks, minimal facial movement and free-floating filler under the skin (because most don't actually dissolve like they've lead you to believe).
The standard of beauty that society, the media and Hollywood have shoved down our throats for their financial gain, is appalling. Yet here we are, conditioned to believe we need to look a certain way and spend massive amounts of money on their endorsed products or trendy procedures to fit their mold. Major companies will use shell companies to create cheaper versions of their costly desired products for those who can't afford the real thing. But what they don't tell you is how that version is packed with cheap fillers and harmful additives that are just toxic enough to slowly cause new underlying conditions. This then forces you to go spend more money on another cheap product of theirs. This results in a constant stream of revenue that over time makes up for the cost of the more expensive product that you weren't able to afford. Though many companies aren't quite that complex; some simply overprice their products because they can. But its not all one big conspiracy, there are plenty of companies charging a fair price even when it seems expensive because of the cost and quality of their ingredients if you know where to look and it's within your budget.
But the bottom line here, is that the beauty industry has become a place built primarily of greed and vanity. But Blue Bootied Beauty is here to disrupt the cycle by making products that have high-quality, safe and non-toxic ingredients without overpricing our products. Because you deserve to feel healthy, confident and beautiful in the skin you're in.
